Greater Capital Region STEAM Ecosystem
This logo design was initially created for a Graphic Design & Professional Practices class. Each student was prompted to design a logo for a company starting up called Greater Capital Region STEAM Ecosystem.
After creating logo designs, we each pitched our design ideas to the company. My design was selected to move forward, and I worked with the company to create more designs for them.
LOGO DESIGN: PROCESS
A final logo was then created by combining the best attributes into a final, refined logo.
Next, one design was chosen and refined by creating lots of variations to choose from.
The first step of designing the logo was to explore and create many different initial ideas.
LOGO DESIGN: CONCEPT
This logo design has many concepts hidden within one solid logo. There are 5 parts of the logo working to create the whole icon: the gray at the top, the two blue pieces, the gray at the bottom, and the white space. These 5 pieces working in harmony represent the 5 elements of "STEAM".
The other concepts built into this logo include the elements uniting under the capitol building of Harrisburg, and the overarching cog to represent the cogs of the mind turning to represent the educational and learning aspect.
VISUAL IDENTITY & MOCK-UPs
As part of my design pitch, I created designs for a stationery set including a letterhead, business cards, buttons, and other designs. The goal of this was to show a potential application of a full visual identity for the company.
The company asked me to design icons to represent the following categories: Live, Work, Play, Learn, Service, and Worship.
These are some additional designs I created for them. They include a pop-up banner and table cover for events, refined business cards, and a refined letterhead template.
